In May 2007, the Australian Task Group on Emissions Trading presented its report to the Prime Minister. This event has been widely viewed as signalling the inevitability of emissions trading being introduced in Australia, possibly as early as 2011. This presentation explores the broad features of the model for emissions trading proposed in the Task Group report, and impacts of its recommendations on corporations, electrical systems and networks, renewable energy and energy efficiency professions.

The Speaker

Craig Morgan is a principal in the Melbourne Office of Climate Managers Pty Ltd. Climate Managers is a climate change strategy consulting firm that provides solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Craig has over 15 years’ experience including 10 years’ experience in assisting organisations manage energy, greenhouse gas emissions and the impacts of climate change. This includes five years focused on greenhouse gas inventory development, mitigation and energy management and four years on renewable energy generation systems. His capability and areas of focus include:

  • Strategic advice on low-carbon technologies (renewables, energy efficiency and hybrid systems)
  • Advice on carbon markets, regulation, programs and mechanisms
  • Climate change risk assessment and strategy development
  • Program and project management
  • Technical due diligence and advice and
  • Energy and Greenhouse Gas management plans, verification and auditing
