Committee BBQ

Call for Enthusiastic Young Electrical Engineers and Computer Scientists

Currently the Younger Members Section of IET NSW is looking for new committee members to help fill vacant positions on the board.

State ATPP 2006

Venue: AGSM (Australian Graduate School of Management), Gate 11 Botany St. Randwick, Sydney

IET NSW is once again holding its annual State Final for the IET ATPP (Australia Technical Presentation Prize) where universities do battle in presentation superiority and technical savvy. Last year it was UNSW who rained supreme, who will it be this year?

The Winner of the ATPP State Final will receive a $400 cash prize, one year's membership of the IET, and a trip to compete in the ATPP National Final in Brisbane early next year. The runner up receives a $200 cash prize.

BlueScope Steel Site Visit

Here is your chance to visit one of the largest and most exciting industrial sites in Australia. BlueScope Steel's Port Kembla Steelworks is a massive industrial site that hosts its Ironmaking, Steelmaking and downstream products businesses. You'll see mountains of raw material that feed the furnaces, ironmaking in the huge Blast Furnaces, molten iron being transported by rail, the immense B.O.S. (Basic Oxygen Steelmaking) vessels, giant heavy vehicles, the Continuous Slab Caster and the conversion from slabs to coils in the Hot Strip Mill.
